I modify my vechile with two things in mind. Do it right the first time around or don't do it at all, and to my liking.
I have had the car since brand new and it has gone through many phases. I am on my fourth set of wheels, fifth set of rubstrips, among countless other things changed here and there.
This all started after my first car, a 1997 GTI 2.slow. That car was no fun and slow. I quickly got rid of it because it sucked more gasoline than my 1.8t! Not to mention it all was a bad car for me, I got rear ended in it 4 times, the whole car got keyed, and a hit and run all within a year!
I bought the GLI with the intention of never modding it because it looked perfect off of the showroom floor... But boy was I wrong, this car has costed me tons of money, but still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.
