As a daily driver, this car is used and abused every single day. From the moment I purchsed this car I knew that it would be modified. The real question was how and what. I spent some time looking at random no-name turbo kits and clobbered together ebay specials and nothing really caught my attention. It wasn't until I saw the prototype BBM kit at Waterwagens '04 that my interests were piqued. After a bit of research into the awesome capabilites of the lysholm design I decided that it was for me.
I knew from the very beginning that I would be going with the stage 3 setup, but what I didn't know was that I would be embarking on a journey into the world of hybrid engines.(no, not electric hybrid, frankenstein hybrid) I discovered that the 16v head would fit atop my existing ABA block. What I didn't know was that no one had ever put a BBM kit on an ABA16v...not even BBM. After working with John Betz, we determined that with his knowledge and my insanity that it would be a good idea for me to attempt the first one. The reason I say insanity is because:
1. This car is my daily and only driver,
2. I live in an apartment and don't have a garage,
3. I don't have a lift or any air tools, and
4. No one has ever done this before.
During the build I was plagued with bad luck from random factory parts. In fact, the only stuff that actually worked flawlessy was the bits and pieces that I got from BBM. After all was set and done I am glad I decided to go the direction I did, as I have a unique setup that makes me smile every day.
