Why did we build a "BOMB" you might ask, is BBM now in the business of building military arsenal? Some of the key features of the BBM 16V intake manifold are not only in its uncompromised design and construction. We had one primary goal in mind, smooth transitions for optimized air flow thus maximizing efficiency. When it comes to high performance under pressure, keeping the air path as smooth and clean as possible is extremely important. Optimized geometry not only keeps the air cooler it also helps to sustain velocity. The more air you pack into an engine with forced induction the more important this becomes. Cooler air with added velocity equals a combustion charge with more air density. Ah how nice, more air with added fuel means even more power.

What makes the "BOMB" better than others? Sure there are manifolds out there with flat plate construction, choppy air transitions and angled runners. We simply did not compromise on the design and construction of our intake manifold. From its fluid flow transitions at the throttle body adaptor to 3D machined internal funnels for smoother air flow. It also features runners that shoot directly in-line and parallel to the intake ports at the head. We could have made these at an angle and skipped having to include our billet coolant flange to accommodate for clearance. We continued with a no compromise theme to deliver a straight shot right up to the intake valve for the ultimate in performance. If you are running a 16V Turbocharged engine and looking for the best performance, you have found your intake manifold.

Application Details: This manifold is designed and intended for use on VW 16V engines running EFI and not the original CIS mechanical fuel injection that these 16V cars originally came with. This manifold requires the use of a Mk3 ABA 2.0L accessory bracket, alternator, pulleys and belt system to accommodate manifold clearance. You can also move the original 16V alternator down to the AC position for this required manifold clearance. This manifold does not work with or clear the BBM Mk3 ABA Supercharger kits.

Manufacturing: CAD/CAM engineering and design, CNC machined, TIG welded

Finish: Natural billet satin finish

Air Funnels: Full large radius CNC 3D machined internal air funnels

Flange Mount: CNC machined 5/8" thick, fully integrated into runner

Velocity Stacks: Unique direct path design, integrated into runner

Injector Bosses: CNC 3D machined, fully integrated into flange and runner, holds industry standard Bosch style injectors

Air Chamber: Computer optimized flow, oversized air plenum chamber, smooth contoured air flow throughout and from the throttle body adaptor transition

Fittings: Includes (2) 1/8" vacuum line fittings, port option for either the factory VW air intake temperature sensor or your choice of GM style air intake temperature sensor port

Throttle Body Adaptors: Options for the factory Mk2, Mk3 2.0L, Mk3 VR6 OBD I & II or the extra large Mustang throttle body adaptor

Billet Coolant Flange: Due to our unique and direct straight shot runner design the factory coolant system flange will not clear the "BOMB" manifold. Our BBM billet coolant flange is included with this manifold at no extra charge. This coolant flange sells alone at $149 it is another BBM built part, CNC machined with TIG welded construction  

Throttle Cable Boss: Billet boss TIG welded onto the manifold to hold the factory throttle cable clip, for the following throttle body adaptor options - Mk2 & Mk3 throttle bodies only Note: the Mustang style throttle body utilizes a throttle cable pull point that is not mounted on this intake manifold.



COMMENTS:
Note: If you already own a BBM 16V fuel rail it will require some modifications for this application. Please contact us if you would like this modification done by us on your existing fuel rail. Fuel rail and FPR adaptor as shown in picture not included. The standard configuration for this manifold is to have the throttle body flange mounted on the drivers side. There is also the option for your air intake temperture sensors port. If you choose to purchase this manifold online you need not worry, we will contact you by phone or email to firm up your manifolds configuration. This product requires additional lead time prior to shipping.
